Next to eight international architecture and design firms Paradigma Ariadné was also invited to one of the most important Spanish architecture festival, to the Concéntrico.

The installation of Paradigma Ariadné is located next to the Church of St. Bartholomew in Logroño. This fact is the cornerstone of the architectural concept, and the basis on which the installation we be created. The story of St. Bartholomew and the tragic end of his life made us think about relation between the “body” of buildings and their surface or “skin”. This is because on paintings and statues St. Bartholomew depicted most often without his skin, or his skin is pictured on its own, since his martyrdom was being skinned alive.

Thus we designed an artefact in which the exterior of the building is emphasized, in other words its “skin”, honouring St. Batrtholomew. In the forming of the installation another phenomenon was the defining aspect, namely the information-carrying capacity of buildings. Prior to the invention of printing the buildings, and especially the walls of the churches, were the main medium through which the general public could meet the era’s most notable work of writing, the Bible. Or we could mention the Arabic culture, where to this day sacred text are used as decorative elements on building walls.

While on the other hand we wanted to represent tension between the primitive shape of the building and the well detailed description of the presented texts. Hence during the formation of this hut we tried to create the feeling of ancient logic of building processes, to create an object that can be imagined as a first step of architecture, when early communities realized the representative quality of building, in a Hegelian term. St Bartholomew hut is a tent with a façade.

In opposition with this primitive approach the descriptions that you can read in the frames are presenting the richness of that extra content that architecture able to carry, and which deeply define our relation to the built environment: details, colours, smells, impressions, feelings, relations, atmospheres.

Therefore, the installation consist 42 of wooden frames, used in the manufacturing production of leather-based parchment, in which a leather or fabric surface is stretched and 42 written text on them introduce 42 different introduction of architectural objects or spaces. This analogue-virtuality is the most heavy architectural quality of the St, Bartholomew hut.

The presented texts were created by colleagues and friends of Paradigma Ariadné: Lilla Árkovics, Mihály Balázs, László Belkovits, Levente Borenich, Bence Cselényi, Tamás Dévényi, Andreas Fogarasi, Dénes Emil Ghychy, Sándor Guba, Győrfi Dániel, Péter Hámori, János Hódsági, Bence Ivánovics, Bálint Kádár, Virág Kiss, Dániel Kovács, Géza Kulcsár, József Martinkó, Zsolt Miklósvölgyi, Szabolcs Molnár, Zsófia Schweger, Beáta Tünde Szabó, Lukács Szederkényi, Dávid Tarcali, András Weiszkopf
