Proposal for an apartment refurbishment in the middle of Budapest. The existing layout of the apartment is divided, as there are rooms open to the street, and rooms which are open to the inner courtyard of the building. Our aim was to eliminate this divided situation with combining the separated rooms to one simple and spacious hall which stretches trough the apartment and make strong visual connection between the two end of the apartment and define a kind of monumentality in an ordinary non-monumental living space.

To serve this aim we placed a new spatial structure into the apartment with no respect to the given hierarchy of rooms and walls. To strengthen this concept, the new walls of the hall are covered with huge diagonals. The yellow and  turquoise walls divert your eyes and create an intensive longitudinal character, while they are also serve as the only but enormous storage for those who live in the apartment.
